I covered communications with a group of volunteer journalists for the 9th and 10th Global Investigative Journalism conferences in Lillehammer, Norway, 2015, and Johannesburg, South Africa, 2017. One article that I co-wrote in 2015, “The Top Ten Research Tips for Investigative Journalists”, was shared on social media 500 (+) times, picked up by IJNET, and translated into Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, and Arabic.

January 2017, Freelance Reporting from Udaipur, India

I directed, filmed and produced a short documentary, which screened at Bertha DocHouse at Curzon Bloomsbury (London) on May 15th, 2017.
The Story: Radheshyam, a closeted transgender from Udaipur, “longs to meet a prince”. Forced into an arranged marriage with three kids, Radheshyam has been repressed into the role of husband and provider, yet, through dance has found a safe way to explore femininity. Male Rickshaw driver by day, female dancer by night; Radheshyam’s life is compartmentalized. This film explores the struggles to be true to oneself within restrictive gender roles.

My role required me to research various government Schemes, Ministries, and Allocations. In addition to my Internship responsibilities, I pitched a story to the editor and published an article on “The State of India’s Media. IndiaSpend then submitted this article for a Red Ink Award.

Three Weeks / Freelance Theatre Critic for Edinburgh Fringe Festival

During the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, I was a freelance Theatre Critic for the media platform ‘ThreeWeeks’ and was hired to write twenty-five reviews of 120 words.

I assisted with the construction of sets, microphoning actors/subjects, keeping props and wardrobes in order, performing general office duties.

  • Small scholarship and admission to Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism – the school has a 6% admission rate. Unable to attend due to limited finances (2016)
  • Completed Online Certificate: “Intro to Infographics and Data Visualization” Offered by The University of Hong Kong, and The Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas at The University of Austin Texas (2015).
  • Certified Advanced Scuba Diver (2015)
  • Raised over £40, 000 for RSPCA, UNICEF and other charities through Listen Telephone fundraising (London, 2015/16).
